Brake pads wear a little every time you brake. That's normal — but once they're too thin, stopping distances grow and damage can happen fast.
Listen
- Squealing or a high-pitched noise when braking.
- A grinding sound usually means the pads are worn right down.
Feel
- A soft or spongy brake pedal.
- The car takes longer to stop.
- Vibration when braking can point to discs or rotors.
Act early
- A warning light on the dash in some vehicles.
- It's usually a quick fix when caught early — book in soon.
